All images and the other web pages content on this site (or anywhere) are protected by US and International Copyright Laws. In addition, the Digital Millennium Copyright Act of 1998 imposes some additional constraints on the use of images. Copyright Law provides immediate protection when anyone creates an image - I also register my images with the US Copyright Office - this provides additional protection against any copyright violation. Note that the owner of a copyright has the right to control the use of their images including seeking compensation for any unauthorized use of an image. If you violate their intellectual property you may be liable for a number of items: actual damages, loss of income, and profits you derive from the use of their image and, if the images are registered (as those found on this site), the costs of collection and/or statutory damages up to $150,000 (USD).
If you locate one of my images being used commercially (on the web or in print) without a license from me then I encourage you to contact me - I would be happy to provide a bounty from any settlement that is the result of the first reporting to me via the contact form found on this site of such a copyright violation of one of my images. Note that if a photo credit is missing and if the site is a commercial site (selling or advertising anything) then a bounty could be in the cards...
