A visit to Dutch Harbor and Unalaska, Alaska.

Memorial Day 2005 was a drizzly spring day in Unalaska, as the Boy Scouts brought in the flags of the 50 United States and the standards of the five branches of our nation's Armed Forces. The flags of the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps and Coast Guard were presented to local veterans having served in each respective military branch and hoisted on the newly-constructed flagpoles at Unalaska Memorial Park on Front Beach Road.
Local dignitaries, religious leaders and active duty Coast Guard personal from the Unalaska Marine Safety Detachment presented and led the community in a bonding experience recounting the names of fisherman and other local residents who passed away.
